Summer Rehearsals
Summer Rehearsals for the Marching Band will begin on Monday, June 2nd from 7:00 - 8:00 PM in the Band Room at Millard South. We will be reviewing music fundamentals and distributing music, Handbooks, and the Summer Newsletter that has details about the summer and the start of the school year.

Sectionals will meet each Monday evening beginning on June 9th on the following schedule:
6:00 p.m. - Flutes and Trumpets
7:00 p.m. - Clarinets, Bass Clarinets, Tenor &
Bari Saxes and Low Brass
8:00 p.m. - Alto Saxes and Mellophones
6:00 - 9:00 p.m.— Color Guard & Percussion (Percussion students also made the decision they wanted to practice on Tuesday nights from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. We'll give that a try and continue it for the summer if we get good attendance and good results)

The Food Fundraiser will begin on Monday, June 9th with all orders due Monday, June 23rd. Delivery will be June 30th.

Winter Guards
Bellevue West Concert Band Festival 3/27/14
The Millard South Concert Band and Symphonic Band will perform at the Bellevue West Concert Band Festival on Thursday, March 27th at 6:00 PM and 6:50 PM, respectively. A detailed itinerary may be found in the "Forms" at the bottom of this webpage.

MSHS Bands at NSBA
The Millard South Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band performed at the 2014 NSBA State Concert Band Festival at UNL on Saturday, March 8th. The clinicians that worked with the groups were impressed and still gave us things to work on.

MSHS Hosts HWAA Championships

Millard South hosted the HWAA Winter Guard Championships on Saturday, March 22nd. This was the largest contest of the season. Millard South Revolution placed 7th in Independent Regional A and Patriots Pride placed 6th in Scholastic A. Brittany Gates and Cassi Lambrecht, from Millard South, were the Individual Ensemble Winners from Scholastic A. Congratulations on a tremendous season and thanks to everyone who helped host the contest!

Attached is a picture of both guards from Millard South and a picture of the crowd during the retreat and award ceremonies.

Jazz Band earns 1+ rating at Westside & 2 at UNO
Jazz Band 1 performed at the Westside High School Jazz Festival on January 28th. They earned a 1+ rating from all 4 judges. The judges were all a part of Mike "Gooch" Gurcillo's Las Vegas Big Band. The students also got to attend a performance by Gooch's band that evening.

Jazz 1 earned a "2" rating at UNO. Alyssa Soppe, Blake Andersen, Ben Wellwood, Zach Warneke, Briana Paquette and Grant Thomas earned Outstanding Soloist recognition.

Congratulations All-State Musicians!
The following band members have been selected for an All-State Music ensemble. David Baker, Rachel Ballard, Ashley Curtis, Amaya Heuertz, Evan Hoylman, Delaney Lynam, Will Marble (alt.), Spencer Reynolds-East, Alex Sharp, Dan Shriver, Grant Thomas,and Zoe Wilhelm will be a part of the All-State Band or Orchestra. Serena Johnson, Braxton Carr and Adam Eschliman will be a part of the All-State Choir and Adrienne Stratton will be a part of the All-State Orchestra.

Congrats to the "Patriots Pride"!
The Marching Band improved each week throughout the season. They received a 57.95 at the Millard West Wildcat Invitational, and then "1" ratings at all the rest of their competitions throughout the season including: a 72.2 at the Festival of Bands in Sioux Falls, a 75 at the Dutchmen Festival in Orange City, a 77.6 at Omaha
Marching Invitational on October 19th and a 78.85 and 7th place finish at the Nebraska Bandmasters State Marching Contest at Buell Stadium on October 26th. A big THANK YOU goes out to all of you for that volunteered to help with the State Marching Band Contest.
